OUR GUIDE TO OUR BEAUTIFUL REGION
Overlooking the sand and sea of Belongil Beach, Bluewater’s location is an invitation not only to the beautiful ocean environment, but also to the wider culture and landscapes of Byron Bay and surrounds.
Walk south along the sand and find yourself in the heart of Byron Bay township, or jump in your car to discover hidden gems in the hinterland.
Here we share some of our favourite places to visit and explore during your stay.
ADVENTURE & EXPLORE
Situated on beautiful Bundjalung Country, there is so much nature to explore in Byron Bay and surrounds.
Take yourself on a morning walk to the famous Cape Byron Lighthouse at Australia’s most easterly point, keeping an eye out for whales, dolphins and the occasional turtle along the way. Back down at sea level, The Pass awaits with crystal clear water and some of Byron’s best waves for both beginner and experienced surfers. If you’re after some guidance, Wilko's World Surf Experiences offers guided surf experiences along the coastline.
Heading out of town, The Farm is well worth a visit, home to wandering farm animals, Bread Social bakery and Three Blue Ducks. For the adventurous, Zephyr Horses offers trail rides through coastal flora and fauna, while inland, waterfalls and bushwalks such as Killen Falls provide a freshwater escape from the coast.
RELAX & RESTORE
Whether you’re looking to slow down or keep moving, Bluewater is surrounded by some of Byron Bay’s best wellbeing offerings.
Book in at Comma for a signature massage followed by a soak and steam in their private bathhouse, or visit Herb Remedy for holistic treatments and natural herbal remedies. Private yoga offerings with Sharnee can also be arranged from the comfort of your cottage at Bluewater.
For something more active, join a pilates class with Pilates by Brooke, book into a semi-private training session at It's Fit Gym, or spend the afternoon at Byron Bay Golf Club, surrounded by rolling fairways and coastal bushland.
WAKE UP & CAFFEINATE
There’s no shortage of excellent coffee and breakfast spots to discover across Byron Bay and surrounds.
Just moments from Bluewater, Belongil Kiosk is perfect for a morning coffee by the beach. Tucked within the Industrial Estate, Happy Days serves up one of the area’s favourite breakfast plates, while Tones is loved for its Asian-inspired bowls and relaxed courtyard setting.
Back in town, Bayleaf Café remains a local staple for seasonal breakfasts and signature drinks, while Top Shop is a favourite for post-swim bite near Clarkes Beach. At High Life, you’ll find wholesome brunch dishes and excellent Allpress coffee.
WINE & DINE
Wash off the sand and slip into some evening attire for a night of great food and even better drinks.
Just a short stroll down the road from Bluewater is Treehouse, a longstanding icon in the Byron Bay food scene famous for their woodfired pizzas and live music. Belongil Bistro offers an elegant European-inspired menu designed for long lunches and slow evenings by the beach, while Feu brings an intimate fine dining experience centred around seasonal produce and considered cooking. In town, Bang Bang is known for modern Asian flavours and eclectic cocktails, while Hutong Harry's brings a lively take on contemporary Chinese dining. Within the Industrial Estate, Kouzina serves a generous Greek-style set menu designed for sharing.
For those venturing further afield, You Beauty offers a relaxed atmosphere with a refined approach to dining, while Eltham Hotel is well worth the hinterland drive for an afternoon spent lingering over food and drinks. If you’re looking for a lunch option, The Hut on Friday Hut Road offers Mediterranean fine dining in the hinterland (you’ll want to set aside an afternoon for this one).
SHOP & STROLL
Byron Bay has become home to a growing community of fashion, interiors and lifestyle brands, with many designing and creating locally.
Within the Industrial Estate, St. Agni offers refined wardrobe essentials grounded in a minimalist aesthetic, while Jardan showcases contemporary Australian furniture and interiors designed for relaxed living. Nearby, Jedda features handmade ceramics and thoughtful objects, Marz Designs creates lighting pieces designed and assembled locally, and Puesto offers a carefully curated mix of clothing and lifestyle pieces inspired by days by the ocean.
